Butt-weld flange
Welding-neck flanges (WN flanges) can transfer stress from the bolt-hole circle to the pipe wall. The long tapered hub reduces stress concentration at the weld root, while the matching inner bore diameter ensures smooth fluid flow. As a result, the fatigue life of the flange is comparable to that of the pipe itself—providing a compelling rationale for selecting this type of forged flange as the preferred choice for all high-pressure or high-cycle piping systems.
